Our Values

While some would prefer that business owners keep their “politics” (read: “values”) to themselves, we feel strongly to the contrary. We want our customers to be very aware of our values as individuals and as a company. While this is in no way a comprehensive list of our values, we hope it will help our customers be aware of where we stand on some particularly important issues:

  • We supported Kamala Harris for President. If you did not, we don’t want your business (the exception obviously being you were not legally able to vote).
  • We support the LGBTQIA+ community, meaning, in short, we support marriage equality and will fight any attempts at its reversal. We advocate for legislation that will protect LGBTQIA+ persons from discrimination. The Senate must pass The Equality Act and The Respect for Marriage Act for a start. We have absolutely no tolerance for Homophobia or Transphobia.
  • We are actively anti-racism. This battle is being fought on too many fronts to list. Besides confronting our own privilege and unlearning the biases inherent in the situations under which we were raised, we stand with the BIPOC communities against all forms of discrimination, exploitation, and erasure. Black Lives Matter. No person is illegal. Help MMIW. Teach true history. White Nationalism is Terrorism.
  • Abortion is healthcare and one’s own private business. The US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe was egregious and cannot be allowed to stand.
  • Healthcare is a human right. (We strongly advocate for Universal Healthcare.)
  • We believe in the absolute separation of church and state.
  • Science is real. Climate change is real. Sustainability has been an important part of our business from inception. Radical interventions and regulations by the governments of the world will be required to curtail further irrevocable damage to our future and we support such measures, even when they may inconvenience our business or personal lives.
    We also believe in the science of vaccines. Everyone at The Cocoa Cauldron is fully vaccinated, including for covid-19. This will always be a requirement for employment with us.
